Wyatt Bartelt, 7, took first place in Two Harbors competing against his local pack of Cub Scouts with his derby car and then advanced to the district level race, held in Hermantown. He took first place at the district competition with a time of 3.038. The same week, Loren Carlson, 83, stopped by the News-Chronicle office to say "Hi!" in his rebuilt 1926 Ford Model-T Roadster pickup.
Roxanne Distad, stylist and owner of Evolve Salon at 118 Waterfront Drive in Two Harbors recently announced the departure of stylist Mark Higgs. After almost two years of working at the salon, Higgs' last day will be May 29 as he prepares to relocate to Hinckley, Minn., to join his fiancé. At the same time, Erin Christensen will return to Evolve as a stylist on a part-time basis.
