Dense fog across much of the Northland this morning may give way to strong, possibly severe thunderstorms across the region this afternoon. In the wake of the storms, light snow is possible on Thursday.
State agencies, local and tribal governments, and some private nonprofit
organizations in Minnesota have until Sunday to apply for federal public assistance to help recover from June’s severe storms and flooding.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for much of the Northland, including Duluth and the Iron Range, through Thursday evening as a slow-moving storm system may drop in excess of 4 inches of rain in some areas.
A jury that includes a retired school superintendent, a Duluth firefighter and a television news director was selected Wednesday to hear the case of a former school bus driver accused of sexually assaulting children.
