Some raise the spectre of having families pay for various services currently provided for Lake Superior School District students, including bus transportation, music and fine arts education, and athletics.
Residents of both Cook and Lake counties will soon be asked to vote on proposed school levies. Before you vote, we want to urge you to think about the community you want to live in just 10 years from now.
I read Jack Pichotta’s commentary in last week’s newspaper in which he referenced the survey (www.k12381.com) and stated the following:
“A recent survey done in our district promoted fee-based education and asked how people felt about charging fees for educational programs that, for most of us, were part of our education.”
With an upcoming levy vote, the Lake Superior School District has been trying to convince a lot of people a rise in property taxes are needed.
Recently the district met with Fall Lake residents – who may need more convincing than any other group.
