White-water kayaking on the Baptism River--it's a rush!
On ground still covered with snow and under trees bending in 30 mph gusts, a dozen men and women eagerly unloaded kayaks, paddles and dry suits and braved the 44 degree temperatures Saturday morning. The Baptism River roared just a few feet away as they prepared to take on the rock-strewn white-water near Illgen Falls in craft barely 6 feet long.

Quarantine proposal raises concerns

Letter carriers drive to stamp out hunger
Many children look forward to the end of the school year. Summer means soccer, softball, camping, reading or time to hang out with friends. For some kids, however, no school means long hungry days, since their most reliable source of nutrition is school lunch. The problem is particularly acute in our region. Last year a report by Hunger Free Minnesota found that Lake County has the highest rate of child hunger in the state.
