A bill sitting on Gov. Mark Dayton’s desk that would change the configuration of the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board — a body that oversees $30 million geared toward growing businesses in northeastern Minnesota — has drawn the ire of some Lake County officials who say it would weaken the area’s influence on the board.
On Friday a contingent that calls itself the Precious Waters Flotilla and includes Lake County residents, will embark on a one-month journey, by canoe, from Aurora to St. Paul along the Partridge and Mississippi rivers.
Two Harbors City Council members unanimously voted Monday night to make an amendment to a resolution made earlier this year in which the company run by Sam Cave offered land to the city as a donation. It will cost the city $10,000 more than it bargained for.
