Cave ruling upheld in appeals court
The Minnesota Court of Appeals on Sept. 17 upheld a decision favoring Two Harbors in its dispute against developer Sam Cave on the zoning, use and ownership of his waterfront property.

People wrote online, talked about it on the street, and phoned their friends to share the shock and sadness over the “chainsaw massacre,” the act of vandalism that felled the white pine landmark on northbound Highway 61 enjoyed by passersby for over 40 years.

Honking Tree removed from highway, its future uncertain
Cradled almost gently in the tines of a huge fork lift, the remains of the Honking Tree was removed from its resting place Tuesday and placed on the waiting flatbed truck.

Cradled almost gently in the tines of a huge fork lift, the remains of the Honking Tree was removed from its resting place Tuesday and placed on the waiting flatbed truck.
From there it was taken to the MnDOT yard in Two Harbors, where it will await the decision of the community on what will happen to it.

Drive-by-and-Honk honors felled tree
At 6 p.m. Sunday, they began to gather at the Knife River rest area. Shortly after 6:30, they headed out toward Larsmont.
They were families, young people, older people, one at a time, in groups—all wanting to pay a last tribute to the Honking Tree, felled by a vandal last Wednesday.
