There is no shortage of talent on the Two Harbors girls’ swim team. Despite the loss of eight swimmers and divers from last year’s team, this year’s girls are more than holding their own. Undefeated last year, the Agates remain so after the first three meets of the season.
The Agate's swim team, along with Eveleth and Mesabi East, won the North vs. South Invitational at Morgan Park Middle school last Tuesday. “The North was able to bring home a victory which has been a long time coming for North teams,” coach Heather Oberg said.
Three swimmers from Two Harbors have advanced to the state meet to compete in four events through Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center after a strong showing at the Section 7A meet in Hibbing.
Quarterback Jon McDannold rushed for 63 yards and three touchdowns as the Agates topped Aitkin 23-20 Thursday in the season opener. The game was stopped for about one hour in the second quarter because of lightning.
