Guzzo steps off the ice
Mike Guzzo is leaving some big shoes to fill in the Silver Bay hockey community. This year, after 29 years of coaching high school hockey in Silver Bay, Guzzo resigned as the head coach of the Mariners girls’ hockey team. He coached the boys for over two decades and the girls for the past five years.

Shopping for wind turbines and bridges commences in Silver Bay
The City of Silver Bay met Monday night and made quick work of its agenda. In less than fifteen minutes the council members had approved the minutes of the last meeting, paid the bills, made all necessary decisions and were back in their cars headed home. All councilors, Mayor Joanne Johnson, City Administrator Lana Fralich and City Attorney Pete Morris were present for the meeting.

Good food for a good cause has made North Shore Horizons’ annual Taste of the North event a favorite for years. In fact, says Steph Coffey, it has been so popular that people have had to be turned away. This year’s event, Thursday, April 11, at Superior Shores is open to just 200 people.

Trevor Rasmussen's winter wandering
The silent snowy woods of Minnesota are a long way from the Florida beaches where he grew up, but Trevor Rasmussen says that his initial visit to the North Shore was love at first sight. Now living in Eagan, just south of the Twin Cities, he has walked the length of the Superior Hiking Trail twice in the last six months, once in September and again last month — both with his dog, Tala, a Siberian husky.
