Fear, shame, and uncertainty about how they’ll be treated or whether they’ll be believed can keep victims from coming forward. The end result is that many women and a smaller, but significant number of men go without the help and support they need.

Event safety top priority for Grandma’s Marathon
In the wake of events earlier this week, officials have been working feverishly to understand who detonated two bombs near the Boylston Street finish line of the Boston Marathon. Three people were killed and scores were injured when the devices exploded, sending the bombs contents and glass from nearby shop windows into the crowds of bystanders. As the News-Chronicle went to press the world received conflicting reports about the arrest of a suspect, but those reports were premature.
