Sexual violence isn’t easy to discuss. Statistically, only a fraction of all sexual assaults are ever reported. Fear, shame, and uncertainty about how they’ll be treated or whether they’ll be believed can keep victims from coming forward. The end result is that many women and a smaller, but significant number of men go without the help and support they need.

Two Harbors High School was abuzz with voices on the evening of April 23 and it wasn’t just high school students visiting in the lunchroom. There were elementary school kids and senior citizens seated at the tables, too, talking and laughing as they wrote on sheets of colored paper.

Robotics team makes Rock Solid showing at world competition
There was some stiff competition at the FIRST Robotics Worlds Competition in St. Louis over the weekend. The Two Harbors team, which is in its first year, held its own against teams sponsored by companies like Google and Motorola and hailing from places like Israel and Turkey.

They had arrived just 36 hours before from Anaheim, Calif. and though they appeared exhausted, they chattered excitedly about their trip to the International Career Development Conference over the weekend. With several inches of snow still on the ground, it’s hard to imagine that the Minnesota vegetable planting season will soon be here. However, the farm at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland is a beehive of activity. A group of Carleton College students and farm manager David Abazs spent a week in late March preparing the land for its first season.
