Last summer a manufacturers’ committee was formed in Lake County. It consisted of school district employees, business owners, manufacturers and the Two Harbors Area Chamber of Commerce. Its mission was to address the need for local welders and millwrights to fill job vacancies.

Krenzen auto mechanics go on strike
Fourteen mechanics and parts employees at the Krenzen car dealership in Duluth walked off the job Monday morning and began striking after employers failed to return to the bargaining table. But co-owner Howie Krenzen said Monday afternoon that vehicle servicing was continuing.

Happy to be back home
When I interviewed the new police officers Greg and Ken, they both said they were thrilled to find work in Two Harbors after leaving the area. Greg went to school in Mankato, ten miles away from my alma mater, and then Hibbing before coming back to Two Harbors. Ken also left for school in Alexandria and found a job out there. He was gone for 20 years before finding work here.
