Michael Marvin Maki, 53, of Silver Bay died Wednesday, March 6 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.
He was born on January 8, 1960 in Coos Bay, Ore., to Marvin and Irene (Haglund) Maki . He grew up and attended schools in Two Harbors, lived in Brimson when he was married, and later moved to Silver Bay. He was employed in a variety of jobs at resorts and bough picking. Mike was an excellent carpenter and planted over 600,000 trees.
He loved fishing, partridge hunting, saunas and all activities in the woods and lakes of the North Shore with his many friends.
Mike was baptized in Coos Bay, Ore., and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. His involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous was very important to him, along with the many friends he made there.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his aunt, Joyce; and his uncle, Dick.
Mike is survived by his parents Marvin and Irene; brothers Dan (Ruth) and Andy (Ann); precious twin nephew and niece, Nicholas and Alyson; cousins Jeff, Doug, Gary, Wayne and Debbie; uncle, Dennis; aunt, Diane; second cousins Tom, Mary and Jimmy; and many friends.
