Nick Holappa, 25, Two Harbors, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan. 29.
He was born May 8, 1987, to Richard and Brenda (Ness) Holappa in River Falls, Wisc. He grew up in River Falls and Cottage Grove, Minn., before moving to Two Harbors in 2001. In Two Harbors, he enjoyed high school sports, playing soccer, football, baseball and basketball. After graduating from Two Harbors High School in 2005, Nick served in U. S. Army until 2010. He served in the 3rd Infantry Regiment in Fort Myer, Va., the Protectorate for the District of Columbia and Honor Guard for Arlington National Cemetery. After leaving the Army, Nick returned to Two Harbors and was employed as a cook at various restaurants.
Nick enjoyed cooking, hunting and his dogs Sarge and Rosie.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Ness.
Nick is survived by his parents Richard and Brenda Holappa; his grandparents, Richard and Gloria Holappa, and Hanna Ness; aunts, Lana Anderson and Judy (Jim) Cooper; uncle, Mark Ness; several cousins; significant other, Julia Jones; and many friends.
