Lyle Lassonde, age 78, of Lakeville, Minn., passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 10, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 21, 1934 in Two Harbors, Minn., to Armand and Clara (Olson) Lassonde. He was preceded in death by his parents, Armand and Clara and brother, Dick Naslund. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Gail (Engstrom) Lassonde; two sons, Larry (Pam) Lassonde and James (Kristine) Lassonde; two grandchildren, Luke Lassonde and Danielle Lassonde; and a sister, Jane (Lassonde) Walker, and many nieces and nephews.
Lyle was a 1952 graduate of Two Harbors High School and DeVry Technical Institute of Chicago, Ill., in 1961. He enjoyed a long and exciting career in the computer industry for 36 years, retiring from Unisys in 1996.
Lyle was a dedicated family man, always enjoying his family, relatives, and many friends. He enjoyed coaching the boys’ sports teams and going to all of the grand kids’ activities, the outdoors, travel, yard work, trips up north to the lake home, and volunteering with the local senior center.
He was very athletic and had fun playing senior tennis throughout his retirement.
Per his wishes, a private family memorial and interment will be held at a later date. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the members of the Fairview Hospice Community.
If so desired, memorials should go to the Fairview Hospice Fund or the U of MN Cancer Research Fund.
