Philip (Butch) Arthur Esterly II

Philip (Butch) Arthur Esterly II, 60, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 8, at his home.

Born on May 6, 1952, he grew up in Two Harbors until he graduated. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served stateside and in Germany until 1975.

He worked at many places in the area ranging from the docks in Two Harbors to Silver Bay mines over the years. He worked at D.A.D.S. Electronics and mixed live sound for the past 20-30 years.

Some of his other loves and hobbies include model railroading, of which he had an extensive and detailed collection. He also loved motorcycles and racing. He spent many a weekend at Brainerd International Raceway until he was 57. He has left many memories and placards to show for it.

He is preceded in death by his father, Philip Arthur Esterly I.

Phil is survived by his mother, Lola Esterly; two sisters, Vicara and Lori; two brothers, Terry and John ;his sons Jason and Philip III and daughter, Journey, plus nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial benefit will be held at the Gopher Bar and Grill in West Duluth Sunday, Dec. 16 at 3 p.m., with live music, auction, raffle and food
