Marie M. Radeck, 90, of Silver Bay, died Friday, Oct. 26, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth. She was born Sept. 10, 1922 to Edward and Mary (Benz) Hughes in St. Paul, Minn.
Marie graduated from Harding High School in 1940 and
married Herman Radeck on March 12, 1941. She was a homemaker through
her earlier years and then decided to start teaching. Marie enrolled at the University of
Minnesota in 1965 and graduated with a BA in Elementary Education in
1969. She taught in the White Bear Lake School District for 15 years
until retiring in 1984. In 1991, the couple moved to Silver Bay where they have lived since.
Marie was active at the Beaver Bay Assembly of God Church and was a member
of the National Education Association and the Minnesota Education Association. She enjoyed quilting, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Stafford
Hughes, and sisters, Ardelle Murray, Doris Moy, and Helen VanNorman Marie is survived by her loving husband of 71 years - Herman; son, Herman Jr. (Anabeth) of Anderson Indiana; sister, Gen (Milton) Wempe of Mitchell, S. D.; granddaughter, Rebecca (Timothy) McClintick of Pendleton, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Beaver Bay Assembly
