Patsy Jean Barstad

Patsy Jean Barstad, 70, of Hermantown, passed away peacefully at her

home, Wednesday, Oct. 17, with her loving husband by her side.

She was born May 25, 1942, in Shooks, Minn., to Earl and Josephine

Spears. She married Vernon Barstad on July 8, 1961, in Littlefork,

Minn. Together they raised two children. She loved spending time

with her family and friends, camping and “snow birding to Arizona”.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Dixie Lea Spears

and Virginia Goblirsch and a grandson Jeremy Byrnes. She is survived

by her husband, Vernon; a daughter, Dixie Lea (Tim) Byrnes of

Hermantown; a son, Brian (Jennifer) Barstad of Libby, Mont.; a

sister, Frances (David) Kerr of Pelican Rapids, Minn.; five

grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was happy to be at

home these last five weeks under the care of St. Luke’s Foundation

Hospice with Vernon and her dog, Fergie as primary care givers.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service Saturday,

Oct. 20, in Grace Lutheran Church. 5454 Miller Trunk Highway. Rev

Phil Berge will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials

to Grace Lutheran Church or St. Luke’s Foundation Home Hospice. To
