Claudia Suomi, 78, of Two Harbors, was called home Friday, Oct. 12 at Ecumen Scenic Shores with her family at her side.
She was born July 8, 1934, to Carl and Margaret (Mills) Johnson in Two Harbors, where she was a lifelong resident. After graduating from high school in 1952, she was employed as a bookkeeper at Harbor Gas Company, Reserve Mining Company and Sonju Motors. She later worked at the Korner Store and before retiring, operated the Viking Motel for eight years.
Claudia enjoyed sewing, gardening, and time spent with her family and grandchildren.
Claudia was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Gary Johnson, her son, Mike, and granddaughter, Jenna.
She is survived by her husband, Al; daughter Sherry (Scott) Reitan; daughter-in-law Jill Suomi; five grandchildren, Cody (Amy) Suomi, Casey (Kris) Suomi, Becca Reitan (Jesse Lundgren), Andy Reitan, and Rheanna Reitan (Will Anderson); 12 great-grandchildren with another on the way; and a sister, Carlene Lesch.
Private services will be held. Memorials may be given to Ecumen Scenic Shores. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.
