Richard "Dick" Leroy Naslund, 82, of Attleboro, Mass., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at his residence surrounded by his loving family following a period of declining health.
He is survived by his loving wife, Therese (Larence) Naslund, to whom he was married to for 56 years.
He was preceded in death by his father Leroy Naslund, mother Clara (Olson) Naslund Lassonde, and step-father Armand Lassonde.
Born in Duluth in 1930, Dick grew up in Waldo and was a 1948 graduate of Two Harbors High School. He worked on the DM&IR railroad after graduation. He then entered the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served honorably until his discharge in 1954. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. During his tenure with the armed services, he befriended astronaut-to-be John Glenn.
His professional career lasted 32 years with Texas Instruments; he worked in both the research and development and nuclear divisions.
He has been a resident of Attleboro, Mass. from 1960 until his recent passing.
He appreciated and loved to spend time in the outdoors and was a member of numerous American Indian organizations.
He will be lovingly remembered for being a true family man.
Dick leaves behind three children: Bruce (Gerrie) Naslund; Pamela (Robert, Sr.) Folan, and Brian Naslund of Attleboro, Mass.; four grandchildren: Robert (Pamela) Folan Jr., Heather Folan, Erik Naslund, and Kayla Naslund; and a great-granddaughter, Isabel Folan; a brother, Lyle Lassonde; a sister, Jane Walker; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
