John Sundberg, 89, passed away Aug. 20, at Genesis Waldorf Center in Waldorf, Md.

John Sundberg, 89, passed away Aug. 20, at Genesis Waldorf Center in Waldorf, Md.

He was born Feb. 24, 1923, to Raymond and Agnes (Mohr) Sundberg in Menomee, Wis.

John was a retired Master Sgt. (E-7) with the United States Air Force, having served 21 years. He was a member of the Masonic Order and the American Legion. He loved fishing (he built his own boat), snow, skiing and travelling. He was of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard D. Sundberg; and one sister, Maryann Gustafson.

John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha E.; two sons, John R. of Frederick, Md., and Thomas C. (Donna) of Hattiesburg, Miss.; one daughter, April G. Hayden of Roanake, Va.; one brother Bill (Joanna) Sundberg of Mich.; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Aug. 28 at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltrenham, Md. The United States Air Force Honor Guard were honorary pall-bearers. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans Memorial, Chapter 39 (P.O. Box 147, White Plains, Md. 20695)
