Shirley Beck, 75, of Finland, died August 10, 2012, in St Luke’s Hospital.
She was born on January 23, 1937, in Jordan, Minn., and moved to Finland as a child when she was adopted by Wayne and Arlene Tikkanen. She attended schools in Finland and Two Harbors, and later lived in Finland and worked in the area for many years. She married George Beck on June 24, 1978, and they lived in Florida from 1982 until returning to Finland in 2007.
Shirley was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Finland, she enjoyed feeding birds, watching loons, traveling and camping.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kenneth Tikkanen and a brother-in-law, Clair Nelson.
She is survived by her husband, George; a son, Dennis (Shelley) Nelson of Finland; a daughter Vickie Schlotthauer of Hudson, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Tanner and Cory Schlotthauer, and Tasia (Quint) Ashton; great-grandchildren, Skylair and Mason Schlotthauer; a brother Wally (Bonnie) Tikkanen; a sister, Velda Nelson; and her beloved dog, Bear.
Services will be held at 11a.m., Wednesday 15, 2012, at Zion Lutheran Church in Finland.
