James L. Anderson, 82, of Silver Bay, died Tuesday July 3, 2012 at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Silver Bay.

James L. Anderson, 82, of Silver Bay, died Tuesday July 3, 2012 at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Silver Bay.

He was born on March 5, 1930 to Elmer Arnold and Ruth (Lind) Anderson in Two Harbors, where he grew up and attended school. He married Joanne Norberg on September 13, 1952. During the Korean War, Jim served in the U. S. Army Headquarters Company. He graduated from UMD, and later received a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin. Jim taught school in Two Harbors from 1958 until 1960, and in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin until 1988. After retiring, he returned to Two Harbors and recently moved to Silver Bay.

Jim enjoyed sports and time with his family.

He was preceded by a son, Eric Anderson and a sister-in-law, Shirley Norberg.

He is survived by his wife Joanne; a son, Leon (Cathy) Anderson of Silver Bay; grandchildren, Kristine, Sarah, Alex and Samantha Anderson; a brother-in-law, Clyde Norberg; nephews and their families, Jeff (Kathy) Norberg and children Darin and Jeremy, Jerry (Carmen) Norberg and children Courtney and Alex and Larry Norberg and children Nicole, Amanda and Caleb.
