Dean Lee Anderson, 92, of Silver Bay, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 11, 2012, at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Silver Bay.

Dean Lee Anderson, 92, of Silver Bay, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 11, 2012, at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Silver Bay.

He was born Nov. 17, 1919, to Andrew and Mattie (Spitzer) Anderson in Pequot Lakes and later moved to Jackson. At age 14, he and the family moved to a farm on County Road 3 west of Beaver Bay.

Dean served in the Navy Seabees as a boatswain’s mate Second Class on Okinawa, New Hebrides, and Espiritu Santo islands during World War II. He received an honorable discharge on Oct. 30, 1945. He then returned to his trapping, hunting, and logging.

He married Bonnie in 1946 and later had two sons. Dean started farming beef and hogs in 1952. He worked in building construction in Silver Bay and for the railroad.

He married Dorothy in 1988.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Vera Anderson Haveri; and his wife, Bonnie Belle (Ostman) Anderson.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Carr Anderson; sons, Allen (Sherry) and Tim; grandchildren, Jeff and Jessica Anderson (Mike Johnson); great-grandchildren, Dexter James, Jordan, and Lainey.
