Dennis W. Kimball, Sr., 76, of Two Harbors passed away May 18, 2012, at Solvay House in Duluth.

Dennis was born in Pine River March 13, 1936, to Jacob and Phyllis Kimball.
He grew up in Backus and Superior and attended Superior East High School. He served in the Army from 1955 to 1964, stationed in Germany for 7 ½ years. Dennis married Carla Sannes in 1965 and was employed as a millwright for Local 548 from 1966 to 1993.
Dennis and Carla made their first home in LeSueur with their two sons from 1969 to 1981. They moved to Silver Creek Township and built their second home. Dennis traveled extensively across the country for his work. After his retirement, Dennis and Carla traveled to Argentina, where he worked as a mechanical consultant. Upon his return, Dennis worked at Gooseberry Falls State Park for the from 2003 to 2011 and looked forward to working in such a beautiful setting with great people.
Dennis will be remembered for his outgoing good nature, positive attitude and his love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, boating, camping, four-wheeling, agate and raspberry picking, cribbage, making diamond willow creations, restoring his 1955 Chevy Bel Air and spending time with their dog, Lucky.
He was a kind and thoughtful man, touching the lives of many and a friend to all.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Jakie, David and Donnie. Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Carla, of 47 years; two sons, Wade (Felicia) and Scott (Ella); four grandchildren, Heather, Jacob, Trinity and Isabelle; three brothers, Barney (Wendy) Kimball and Dwight (Sue) Kimball of Silver Bay and Gary Kimball of Duluth; one sister, Cherie D’Ann (Curt) Ranes of Topock, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Florence Kimball of Osakis; and many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
At Dennis’ request, a private family service will be held.
