Funeral services for Ann Marie “Suzie” Striker, age 67, of Foley, were held Thursday, March 1, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church near Princeton with Rev. Barb Peterson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Funeral services for Ann Marie “Suzie” Striker, age 67, of Foley, were held Thursday, March 1, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church near Princeton with Rev. Barb Peterson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Ann Marie “Suzie” Striker was born July 2, 1944, to Erwin and Mary (Kalander) Nikolai in Two Harbors. She grew up in Finland and graduated from William Kelly High School in Silver Bay in 1962. She worked as secretary at Campton Elementary School in Silver Bay, Rosemount Engineering and 5-8 Club in Minneapolis, and Hiway Cafe in Milaca.
While growing up in Finland, she was active in 4-H and was a Sunday school teacher at Zion Lutheran Church in Finland. While in Minneapolis, she attended Hope Lutheran Church. She was also a Sunday school superintendent at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Oak Park. She was an avid pianist, cribbage player, daycare provider, teacher, and a mentor to all.
Suzie died Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Saint Cloud Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; son, Douglas (Vannessa Rakow) of Saint Cloud; daughter, DeAnn (Josh Phillippi) of Sauk Rapids; grandson, Jakob Jordan; brother, Robert (Linda) Nikolai; sister, Verna (Jim) Sinderman of Finland; and many nieces, nephews, and all of her other “children”.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca, Minn. 320-983-3488
