Darrell Owen Rajavuori

Darrell Owen Rajavuori, 83, of Clover Valley, passed away peacefully on Nov. 24, 2011, surrounded by loved ones. He was born April 26th, 1928, to Jacob and Nancy Rajavuori.

Darrell Owen Rajavuori, 83, of Clover Valley, passed away peacefully on Nov. 24, 2011, surrounded by loved ones. He was born April 26th, 1928, to Jacob and Nancy Rajavuori.

He was a member of the Merchant Marines and a veteran of the Korean War. He was highly involved in the American Legion, serving as Vice Commander of the 8th District and Commander of Post 571.

His various jobs ranged from chef to bookkeeper to finally retiring from LTV, but his true passion was the farm.

Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, wife Alice, and stepchildren Joyce, Buster, and Chuck.

He is survived by and will be especially missed by his sweetheart of 25 years, Joyce, who he loved a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck; his daughter Nevada; grandchildren, Seth, Jake, Luke, Leah, and Elizabeth; great-granddaughter Dannette; step-son Buck; many step grandchildren; brother Don (Nan); sisters, Donna and Dorla; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Paul , Do, and many other good friends; and “Ducky.”

Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Cremation Society of Minnesota. A visitation was held one hour prior to the service. A reception was held afterwards at American Legion Post 71 in West Duluth.

Our family would like to thank St. Mary’s Hospice, Ecumen Bayshore, and Solvay Hospice House for the incredible love, care, and respect that was shown to Darrell and our family. We’ve grown to love all of you.
