Wendell Parker, 56, of Finland died Monday, June 7, 2010, at his home. He was born July 1, 1953, to Willis and Alta (Raddatz) Parker in Bemidji.

Wendell Parker, 56, of Finland died Monday, June 7, 2010, at his home. He was born July 1, 1953, to Willis and Alta (Raddatz) Parker in Bemidji. He grew up in Finland and attended schools in Silver Bay, graduating in 1973.

After serving in the Army, Wendell returned to Finland to raise his family. He worked at state parks and fisheries. He served on the Finland Fire Department and was a mentor at MCC Camps.

Wendell loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and horseman. He also loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Susen; sons, Michael (Amy) of Finland and Jasen (Stacey) of Houston; three grandchildren, Katie, Wyatt and Morgan; his parents, Willis and Alta of Duluth; brothers, Alden of Whitehall, Wis., and Raymond of Silver Bay; sisters, Fran Harkness of Beaver Bay, Caroline Walsh of Two Harbors, Helen LaDuke of Duluth, and Stacey Parker of Duluth; numerous nieces and neph- ews, and many friends.

A celebration of Wendell’s life took place Saturday at his son’s home in Finland.
