A. Victoria “Tory” Hanson, 103, Two Harbors, died June 10, 2010, in Sunrise Home. She was born March 22, 1907 to John and Karin (Dalfors) Skoog in Dalarna, Sweden, and moved to Grand Marais with her parents and family at age 7.
A. Victoria “Tory” Hanson, 103, Two Harbors, died June 10, 2010, in Sunrise Home. She was born March 22, 1907 to John and Karin (Dalfors) Skoog in Dalarna, Sweden, and moved to Grand Marais with her parents and family at age 7.
She later moved to Two Harbors, where she graduated from high school in 1927 and lived for the rest of her life. She married Henning Hanson in 1928 and he preceded her in death in 1964.
She was a member of the Knife River Valley Friendship Club and Silvertones.
Tory is also preceded in death by brothers and sisters Victor, Vernie, Bernard Skoog, Anna Olson, Hannah Rosdahl, Minnie Lundeen, Karin Carlson, Stina Anderson and Elizabeth Backlund.
She is survived by a son Bruce (Elaine) Hanson of Two Harbors; daughters Pauline Ohlund (George Svee) of Two Harbors and Barb (Dick) Eckel of Grand Marais; grandchildren Lori Okerlund of Apple Valley, Lynne Counter of Two Harbors and Cathy Rickert of Two Harbors, Jody Sanford of Castle Rock, and Patty Nelson of Grand Marais; great-grandchildren Kristy Whalen, Kelly McElhinny, Bryan Okerlund, Corey Bonneville, Jessica Counter, Aaron Rickert, Lauren Rickert, Jessica Nelson and Kari Nelson; and two great-great-grandchildren Reid and Alyson McElhinny.
A service was held Wednesday at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors with burial being in Lakeview Cemetery.
