Jennie A. Hedin, 101, Two Harbors, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Sunrise Home. She was born June 30, 1908, to Charles and Anna (Seafolk) Easterholm in Newberry, Mich.
Jennie A. Hedin, 101, Two Harbors, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Sunrise Home. She was born June 30, 1908, to Charles and Anna (Seafolk) Easterholm in Newberry, Mich. In 1914 she moved to Two Harbors and with her siblings was adopted by Charles Johnson.
She graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1926 and then worked for the Community Health Center as a kitchen aide. Jennie and her husband, Arthur, and many others worked hard to organize the Community Health Center in Two Harbors.
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and its Mary Martha Circle, and was also past president of the DM & IR Railway Visitation Committee.
She enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, and crocheting, and loved bingo, playing cards, and writing poetry.
Jennie is preceded in death by parents; her beloved husband of 66 years; 10 siblings; son-in-law, Elwood Hansen; and great-grandchildren, Erik Hansen and Jana Wick.
She is survived by her children, Lucille Hansen of Two Harbors, Betty (Earl) Crowley of Barnum and Lee (Sandy) Hedin of Fort Wayne, Ind.; eight grand- children, 20 great-grand- children, two great-great- grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Joyce Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
A service was held Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Two Harbors followed by burial in Lakeview Cemetery.
