Thora Lampi

Thora G. Lampi, 91, Two Harbors, died Saturday, Jan. 30 at her home at the Barross Cottages in Two Harbors.

She was born Jan. 4, 1919, to Anton and Oline (Pederson) Simonsen in Two Harbors, where she was a lifelong resident. She attended the Silver Creek School and married Taisto Lampi in 1939, sharing 59 years of marriage. She retired from Lake View Memorial Hospital, where she was a housekeeper for many years.

Thora’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Taisto; son, Ty; and 12 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son, Bryan (Carolyn) Lampi of Spokane, Wash.; daughter, Cheryl (John) Libal of Two Harbors; a sister, Lydia Makowski of Duluth; grand- children Jody (John) Holbeck, Scott (Christine) Libal, Kelly (Angelo) Ray, Mike Lampi, Douglas Lampi, Sara (Kevin) Ereaux, Steven Lampi and Kristina (Craig) Carriveau; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister-in- law, Pauline Simonsen; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is at 10 a.m. today with 11 a.m. service at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
