Bob Payment
Bob Payment, 83, Two Harbors, died Monday, Feb. 1, at St Luke’s Hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1927, to George and Mae (Jones) Payment in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., where he grew up and attended school.
Bob Payment, 83, Two Harbors, died Monday, Feb. 1, at St Luke’s Hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1927, to George and Mae (Jones) Payment in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., where he grew up and attended school.
He worked on the ferry between Sault Ste. Marie and Sugar Island. He served in the U.S. Army occupation forces in Germany.
Bob married JoAnn on Jan. 10, 1959. He was employed by U.S. Steel Great Lakes Fleet for 30 years. He was the best neighbor anyone could have as he helped others in countless ways. Bob enjoyed working hard and was a member of the American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Virginia Pittman and brothers William and Ronald. Bob is survived by his loving wife JoAnn; sons Dwayne (Pat) Payment of New York, George Jansen of Crystal, and Conrad Jansen of Austin, Texas; daughter Joette (Roy) Hanson of Two Harbors; grandchildren Danielle (Tom) Vold of Raleigh, N.C., Christine (Randy) LeMay, Lennon Hanson, Nathan Hanson, all of Two Harbors; great-grandchildren Kara and Logan Vold and Lane LeMay; and many nieces and nephews.
There was a visitation Thursday evening and a service at 2 p.m. today at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery. Memorials preferred to St. Luke’s Hospice.
