Paul Kermit Carlsen, Sr.

Kermit Carlsen, 78, Schroeder, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at the Sunrise Home in Two Harbors with his family at his side.

Kermit Carlsen, 78, Schroeder, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at the Sunrise Home in Two Harbors with his family at his side.

He was born Feb. 18, 1931, to Thor and Mathilda (Pedersen) Carlsen in Two Harbors, and was a life-long resident of the North Shore.

He attended schools in Cook County, then worked as a truck driver for Consolidated Paper, Zenith Dredge, Ulland Brothers, Hunkin Arundel and Dixon, Hunk-in-Conkey, Temperance River State Park and Bay Construction. Kermit also operated the Pure Oil Service Station in Schroeder and was self-employed as commercial fisherman.

He enjoyed fishing and woodworking and was a member of Teamsters Local 346.

Kermit was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Alma; and a brother, Carl Carlsen.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; a son, Paul (Tamara) Carlsen of Alexandria; a daughter, Julie (Mike) Peters of Duluth; grandchildren, Melissa Moulton, Paul K. Carlsen III “Duke”, Ashley Carlsen, and Maggie Peters; great-grand- children, Aleah, Kelsey, Isaac, Josiah Thor, and Ellianna.

Services were held at the Schroeder Town Hall, followed by burial in Schroeder Cemetery. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.
