On Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, three days after her 65th birthday, Penny (Manzer) Rogers passed away peacefully with her family by her side – just how she wanted.
She grew up in Silver Bay and then worked many years for Northshore Mining, adopting all of her co-workers as extended family.
Penny enjoyed her volunteer work with North Shore Area Partners and helping others wherever she could.
She loved spending time outdoors and walking Cody, her golden retriever.
Penny had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them all – she was clearly loved. Most of all she loved spending time with her family – telling stories, a few jokes, or singing and dancing together- as long as they were together.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Connie and Lucille Manzer.
She is survived by her husband, Dave; sons, Ryan and Michael Collard; sisters, Lorraine (Bruce) Hustad, Mary (Mike) Guzzo, Susan (Harvey) Genadek, and Jackie (Lars) Christensen; brothers, Gary (Lori) Manzer, and Jim Manzer; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation is 1 p.m. until a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Silver Bay. Burial will be in Silver Bay Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to UDAC, 500 E. 10th St., Duluth, MN 55805 in memory of Penny.
Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.
