Veronica O’Day was born in England but came to the United States when she married her husband 65 years ago after World War II. She takes her patriotism for her adopted country very seriously and created a display for Memorial Day at her bed in Sunrise nursing home while recovering from surgery. “America has been good to me,” she said. Her display includes a signed letter and picture from former President Clinton along with photos of children she has helped from other countries. Sonja Peterson
