I guess if I had been in this situation and knew there was a person waiting behind me who might be wondering what was taking so long, I would have been courteous and walked to his vehicle and given him an explanation. Sounds like from his viewpoint he was waiting and was only seeing a person in front of him who was done fueling up, then somehow set off her car alarm, and is now just sitting in her car talking on the phone. Had he been told what the problem was, he probably would have understood, and may have even been able to help you get going again.

Next time someone honks at you, you can do what my husband does and has taught me to do...get out of your vehicle, walk up to Bubba's window and politely ask "do I know you?" and then turn and walk away !!! First, their reaction is shock because you are actually acknowledging their presence without flipping them the bird. Second, when you ask the question politely and act as though their honking isn't of bother to you and then turn around and walk away, they are the one's left sitting there facing their own embarrassment and stupidity. Usually one of 2 things happens, they sit their waiting their turn quietly or get mad and leave. Nice thing is...their impatience doesn't need to ruin your day !!!!
