Peterson

Jana Peterson

Peterson grew up in Vincennes, Ind., though her parents are both natives of Minnesota. Peterson worked in London for seven years following her graduation, and her first newspaper job came with the Austin Daily Herald after she moved back to Minnesota. There, she worked as the city beat reporter, also covering the school board and writing feature stories. Peterson met her husband, Brady Slater, in Austin, where he worked as the sports editor at the newspaper. The two later moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where Brady worked his way up to sports editor at the Idaho State Journal and Jana worked on various assignments such as the Idaho State University beat reporter, editor and creator of the Family Living Magazine, feature writer, niche publications editor and updating the website. After six years, the two decided to move back to Minnesota. Peterson and husband Brady now have three children – Frances, 11, and Jack and Henry, 8, who are fraternal twins. They moved to the Northland four years ago and bought a house in Cloquet three years ago. During that time, Peterson has worked as the editor of the Duluth Budgeteer News, a weekly newspaper delivered to 40,000 homes in Duluth, Hermantown and Proctor.
