Gert’s dirt: Let your light shine
By: Donna Bellino for the Lake County News-Chronicle, Lake County News Chronicle
This is the time of year when there are more cloudy days and darkness. It is a good time to clean out the overhead lights in your home. They are probably filled with flies and dust from the summer.
First, be sure to get a sturdy ladder! Next, with the light off, take the fixture apart. Wash and dry the light cover. If the bulbs are dusty, carefully dust them. With the cover off, turn the light on. Replace burned out bulbs and replace the cover. If you have overhead fans, wash the fan blades while you are up there.
Another way to increase the light in your home is to remove the screens from the windows. I rely on passive solar here at the Bellino pad. You’ll be surprised by how much more sunlight comes through the windows after the screens are removed.
If you don’t like ladders or don’t have time to tend to screens or light fixtures, call Gertie’s Cleaning and Home Service. They’ll help you “see the light”!
