Wanted: Halloween talent
The Friends of the Two Harbors Public Library needs your talent to help celebrate the recent renovations at the library. On Oct. 26, they will be hosting a party “Fiends of the Library” to thank the community for its wonderful support of this summer’s renovations. We are asking people to participate in two ways that night:
1. Participate in a pumpkin carving contest. Family can carve a pumpkin at home and bring it to the event for judging. Catagories include “Most scary,” “Funniest,” “Most creative,” and more. Prizes will include a new book purchased through the library.
2. Be a reader. They will be seeking people to tell or read Halloween-related stories. If you would like to participate in the fun, call Micky at 834-4891.
An additional opportunity for storytelling enthusiasts is Rachel Nelson’s workshop, Oct. 20 at the Community Center. You can field test your Halloween story at the workshop. For more information and to register for the storytelling workshop, contact Rachel at 651-353-3370.
FTHPL wants to encourage all library supporters to put this spook-tacular event on your calendar! The event has been funded by the Lake County Recreation Board.
Food shelf seeks volunteers!
The Two Harbors Area Food Shelf serves over 140 households per month and distributes over 10,000 pounds of food. The food shelf is entirely staffed by volunteers and is now seeking additional volunteers to fill a variety of positions. Jobs include registering clients, stocking, assisting with food distribution, helping with truck deliveries, and performing a variety of clerical duties. If you’d like to learn more about volunteering at the food shelf, please call Jan at 834-2539.
