New management, new promises at theater
On Sunday evening, the Rex Theater was opened to the public under new management. Nothing but high class programs will be shown at this theater and to parents, the management pledges itself to give extra special attention to the proper care of all children attending and unquestionably the most gorgeous photoplays ever shown in motion pictures will be given.
First snow on Sept. 25
Monday marked the first snow in Lake County when residents on the Wales Line awakened to find a slight blanket which melted away with the morning sun. Ice a quarter of an inch thick froze on the ponds. The temperature at Two Harbors did not sink low enough to damage flower gardens, but on Tuesday morning ice formed and tender plants were killed.
Returning growth indicated in city
Two signs of returning economic life to the city of Two Harbors became evident during a regular meeting of the city council Monday evening, when a resolution was passed to reactivate the six-inch water line at the west end of First Ave. to service the Universal Fiberglass Corp. and to issue permit to construct a building. Also approved was the extension of gas service lines to the VFW property in Bay View addition. Meanwhile, construction was reported progressing on the J.C. Campbell plant in Waldo, just north of the city limits and on the Lake County garage and highway office building on State Road 2, also just north of the city limits.
Two Harbors gridders wallop Greenway 46-29
The Two Harbors varsity football team upped its record to 3-1 last Friday night by defeating Greenway 46-29. The win leaves the Agates tied for second place in the tough Sea-Range Conference. Jeff Fladmark, a sophomore at Two Harbors High School, was recently named “Prep Athlete of the Week” by WDIO and was also given the title of “Player of the Week” by the Quarterback Club.
