Kermit William Weeks, 65, of Park Rapids, Minn., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 7, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, following injuries received during a logging accident at his home. He was born February 6, 1948, in Park Rapids to Virgil and Mila Mae (Middleton) Weeks. Kermit grew up on the family farm near Osage County, spending a brief time in Iron Mountain, Minn. He attended elementary schools in Osage County and high school in Park Rapids, graduating in 1966. Kermit was an active member of the Straight Lake Pirates 4H Club as a child, and FFA during high school. He enjoyed the outdoors, working on the farm and hunting with his father. After graduation Kermit served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked for North Shore Mining for several years and then as a trucker and logger for 40 years, including, Huseby Logging in Silver Bay and RDO Truck Center.
Kermit married Nancy Brown in 1992 and they gave birth to daughter, Kymberly.
Kermit was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by wife, Nancy Weeks, daughter Kymberly ; stepsons Robert, Thomas and Johnathon Dobbelaere; sisters Mila (Neanie) Slover of Fargo, N. D., Kay Cain of Park Rapids, Minn., and Bette Jo (Danny) Frieler of Sauk Center, Minn.; brothers Lloyd Wayne (Sheila) Weeks of Grand Rapids, Minn., and Roy (Jeanine) Eaton of Decatur, Texas, 10 grandchildren, 12 nieces, nephews, several great-nieces and nephews and cousins all around the United States.
A memorial service for Kermit Weeks was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids. Visitation was held at the Funeral Home one hour prior to services. Condolences may be left for the family at www.jonespearson.com
