Parts of the North Shore spent the weekend digging out from more than a foot of new snow that fell steadily over the course of several days.
The National Weather Service in Duluth reported late Saturday that it had received spotter reports of 14 inches of snow in the past three days at Little Marais; 13.6 inches near Finland, and 10.5 inches at Beaver Bay.
Much of the Northland saw at least a few inches as waves of snow showers and flurries moved across the region Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Other three-day totals included:
A wind chill advisory was in effect for Northeastern Minnesota overnight. The region should see temperatures climb only into the single digits today in most areas.
New Year’s Eve looks to be a cold one, with low temperatures forecast to tumble into the teens below zero in many parts of the Northland tonight.
