More than a foot of new snow reported on parts of the North Shore

Parts of the North Shore are spending the weekend digging out from more than a foot of new snow that fell slowly, steadily over the past several days.

Parts of the North Shore are spending the weekend digging out from more than a foot of new snow that fell slowly, steadily over the past several days.

The National Weather Service in Duluth reported Saturday that it had received spotter reports of 14 inches of snow over the past three days at Little Marais; 13.6 inches near Finland; and 10.5 inches at Beaver Bay.

Much of the Northland saw at least a few inches of accumulation as waves of snow showers and flurries moved across the region Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Other three-day totals included:

  • 9 inches - Tofte (5 miles NE)

  • 8 inches - Isabella (14 miles W)

  • 7.9 inches - Tofte (1 mile SW)

  • 5.3 inches - Duluth (3 miles NE)

  • 4.4 inches - Two Harbors (5 miles NNE)

  • 3.7 inches - Two Harbors (4 miles WNW)

  • 3.5 inches - Duluth airport (official NWS observation)

  • 3 inches - Lutsen
