Maggie Gunderson, 67, of Two Harbors died unexpectedly on Friday, July 19, at her home.
She was born on March 16, 1946, to Vernard and Myrtle (Halvorson) Nelson in Two Harbors. Maggie grew up in Knife River and graduated from Two Harbors High School. During her working career she held various jobs; most recently she was employed as a certified nurse's aide at Lakeview Cottages, retiring in 2011.
Maggie adored her three dogs and spending time in the outdoors, gardening and reading.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Leonard, Paul and Dwight Nelson.
She is survived by her daughter; Lana (Lance) Tveiten of Virginia; siblings Gilbert (Janice) of Duluth, Robert of Washington, Carolyn Johnson of Ely, Duane (Nancy) of Duluth, and Don of Two Harbors; special friend Jim Davies; grandsons Curtis and Kyle Tveiten; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors. Service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Cavallin Funeral Home. Lunch followed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Burial was at 3 p.m. at Sunrise Cemetery in Hermantown. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
