Two Harbors High School’s 2012-13 Homecoming Queen, Courtney Osbakken, was selected to represent Two Harbors High School as a Homecoming Queen state finalist through a lengthy application process. She was selected to compete for this scholarship opportunity from a field of applicants from all over Minnesota. The competition was held in Richfield on June 8.
The competition consisted of a questionnaire and resume of past accomplishments and future goals, an essay on America and the meaning of freedom. There were separate interviews with each of the three judges and an evening gown pageant with a final question from the judges.
Bailey Jo Jenkins of Warren Alvarado Oslo High School was crowned Queen and will compete at nationals in July. Osbakken was named first runner up. If for any reason Jenkins cannot compete, Osbakken will represent the Two Harbors High School, the City of Two Harbors and the State of Minnesota in Memphis Tennessee at Nationals.
“Even though I was not crowned queen, coming first runner-up in the state of Minnesota was a great feeling. I felt honored to represent our school and our community at the state finals,” said Osbakken.
