Bayside Chatter: June 21

Former Mariner, Terry Keseley, has been named the head coach of the St. Louis Park boys’ high school hockey team. Keseley graduated from Silver Bay in 1976 and was a walk-on at UMD.
The 2012-13 high school sports season came to a conclusion at Target Field with three baseball championship games. Mounds View defeated Rocori 8- 0 for the AAA title. In the AA title contest Kasson-Mantorville prevailed by a score of 8-1 over Perham. Bird Island-Olivia (BOLD) beat Osakis 3-0 for the A title. Hermantown went two and out in AA and Floodwood lost 2-0 to Wabasha-Kellogg in the consolation championship.
The seeding process turned out to be far from accurate. Mounds View was seeded No. 4 in AAA and Rocori was unseeded. In AA Kasson-Mantorville was seeded No.5 and Perham was unseeded. Class A saw unseeded BOLD over No.3 Osakis. I’d hope that the lack of games played due to the late spring had something to do with it.
With the conclusion of the 2012-13 high school sports season, it is once again time for this column to go on hiatus until the 2013-14 season begins or something else comes up.
