Elena Parker of Silver Bay was named to the Minnesota State University-Moorhead dean’s list. She is majoring in psychology and studio art. Students must maintain a 3.25 or higher grade point average to be placed on the dean’s list.
Sonja Smerud of Silver Bay was named to the St. Olaf College dean’s list. She is majoring in political science and biology. Students must maintain a 3.75 or higher grade point average to be placed on the dean’s list.
Kathyrn Geissler of Silver Bay has completed her Associate In Applied Science degree in natural resources technology at Central Lakes College in Brainerd. She graduated with honors and also received her wildlife tourism certificate. Students graduating with honors must have a grade point average between 3.25 and 3.74.
Kaelyn Lensko of Silver Bay received the Student Success Scholarship from Bemidji State University. Students who are awarded the $1,000 scholarship must have scored a 21 or higher on the ACT and be in the top 50 percent of their graduating class.
Luke Thun, son of Seth and Tracy Thun, Silver Bay was named to the 1012-13 dean’s list at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota. Students named to the dean’s list must carry at least 14 academic credits and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or better.
Sheri Lieffring received her Master of Arts in Music Education degree from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul on May 25. Her thesis title was “A Sequential Process for Developing Independent Part-Singing in Beginning Mixed-Voice Middle School Choirs.”
Sheri earned her bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2006, and is a 2002 honors graduate of Two Harbors High School. She is a K-12 vocal music teacher for the Hinckley-Finlayson School District.
Staci Lieffring received her juris doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School in Minneapolis on May 18, where she was a managing editor of the Minnesota Law Review. She clerked for the Hennepin County Attorney’s office, externed for Judge Diana E. Murphy of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and is currently completing a second summer associate position at the law firm of Faegre Baker Daniels.
Staci earned dual undergraduate degrees in political science and marketing, summa cum laude, from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in 2010, and was the Two Harbors High School Class of 2006 valedictorian. She will clerk for Chief Justice Lorie Skjerven Gildea of the Minnesota Supreme Court for one year before joining the law firm of Faegre Baker Daniels in Minneapolis the following fall.
Sheri and Staci are the daughters of Dan and Cindy Lieffring of Duluth.
