The Agate Cheer Squad is headed to cheerleading camp this summer, and they’ve found a creative fundraiser to help pay their way—the Glow, Fight, Win Fun Run.
The girls will be hosting the event on the evening of June 15, with a glow stroll for youngsters at 8:30 p.m. and the main event at 9:30 p.m. The run will start at the Breakwater in downtown Two Harbors and follow the Lake Walk to Burlington Bay (the kids’ stroll turnaround point is at the water treatment plant). There, participants will turn around and return to the start. The entire route is about 2 miles and the kids’ stroll is 1 mile.
According to coach, Melanie Ross, the event is meant to be fun and “glowy.” For $20 ($15 for students), participants will get a t-shirt, glow stick, glow jewelry and a flashlight. She said the team is encouraging everyone to break out their flashing Christmas jewelry and bring any other iridescent accessories for the evening of running, strolling and glowing.
Register online at isd381.k12.mn.us or by stopping in the Community Education office at Two Harbors High School. The race is sponsored by Sonju Two Harbors, Co-op Light and Power and Bodies in Balance.
