On April 30, 2013, we sadly lost a devoted son, brother, uncle, fiancée, “step-dad” and friend. Lee Jacobson died in a workplace accident near Silver Bay.
He was born September 10, 1954, to Roy and Mabel Jacobson in Duluth. Lee attended school in Silver Bay, graduating in 1973 from William Kelly High School. He attended Bemidji State University and Dakota County Technical College, Twin Cities. Lee Roy worked for Lake County Highway Department for the past 10 years, most recently at Finland Garage. Before that, he worked at TH Auto in Two Harbors and John’s Sanitary in Silver Bay. Lee was a member of the Silver Bay Fire Department and was known also for his work operating the family owned Jacobson’s Hardware store in Silver Bay, Minn.
He was an avid hunter, especially in the fall when he loved going to the family farm in Oklee, Minn. Lee loved sailing with his father Roy, snowmobiling, four wheeling, kayaking, and curling. He was always there to help family and friends, showing up with his pickup or bobcat to move dirt or plow snow, or to help anyone in need. He had a big heart for kids, and loved his golden labs, Chelsea and Greta. Lee was outgoing and friendly, easy to visit with and easy to love. He loved life. He will be missed dearly by his family and his soul-mate Susanne and her children, Kristin and Corey.
Lee is preceded in death by grandparents, Edwin and Hilda Jacobson, and Amund and Gunhild Lintvet; father, Roy Jacobson; niece Lynea; and uncles Norman Jacobson and Orlo Lintvet.
He is survived by his mother Mabel; fiancée, Susanne Gadsby, and her children, Kristin and Corey; sisters, Lyn Nell Bartyn and Julie (Scott) Runnfeldt; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Matthew) Henry, Scott Bartyn, Lindsey (Ben) Buckley, and Ashley (James) Bartyn; and great niece, Kaileen Henry.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay, continuing from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Monday, May 6, also at Sychar Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Silver Bay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Silver Bay Fire Department. To sign the online guestbook please go to www.cavallinfuneralhome.com
