Letter to the editor: Recent visitor supports roundhouse preservation
By: From Troy Francen Circle Pines, Minn., Lake County News Chronicle
My name is Troy Francen and I had an opportunity at the beginning of March 2013, to visit The Two Harbors Roundhouse. I would like to ask the officials in Two Harbors to reconsider the demolition of the roundhouse. I understand that a proposal has been made to restore it and preserve the Edna G., as well, and that it would save these historically.
This would not cost Two Harbors. In fact it would save a considerable amount of money in demolition as well as create jobs for the area and the region. Demolition of the roundhouse would mean it is gone forever. This building could make this area a much larger tourist attraction with the depot, locomotives and tugboat, as well as creating manufacturing jobs for the city. I ask again that you reconsider.
