April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month all over the nation, and of course, right here in Lake County. In an effort to share information about local services for victims and educate more people about this crime, North Shore Horizons has been busy.
Seed packets printed with community resources, along with teal SAAM ribbons have been made available at the Two Harbors Public Library, local restaurants and bars and at the North Shore Horizons at 127 7th Street in downtown Two Harbors.
North Shore Horizons is also seeking volunteers who would like to become sexual assault crisis line volunteers. Crisis line advocates must complete a 40-hour advocacy training which will begin Tuesday, April 23 and continue for the next five consecutive Tuesdays, ending May 21. Those who complete the training will be asked to answer crisis calls a few nights each month.
Interested volunteers may call: Rachel Johnson at 218-834-5924 or Racheljohnson@northshorehorizons.org for more information
